Risultati preliminari di una ricerca dell’università dell’Indiana (Usa) sui pregiudizi verso asiatici, neri, ispanici, musulmani ed ebrei diffusi attraverso Twitter

“BIAS Against Asians, Blacks, Hispanics/Latinx, Muslims, and Jews on Twitter”

Dear friends and colleagues,

We are happy to share the preliminary results of our research project “BIAS Against Asians, Blacks, Hispanics/Latinx, Muslims, and Jews on Twitter” (attached and available online here). 140 students have been involved in this research. We manually annotated and classified 10,000 tweets in representative samples. The study indicates that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict triggers not only criticism of Israel but also bias against Jews. Positive sentiments declined, and negative sentiments increased in the period of May to August. However, conversations about Jews also had the highest number of tweets that were calling out bias.

The project would not have been possible without our research lab on social media & hate, see https://isca.indiana.edu/publication-research/social-media-project/index.html

We hope to encourage more students to engage in this kind of research. Please consider supporting our research on social media. You can find details on how to support us here or by contacting us directly. Please write to rosenfel@indiana.edu. Many thanks!
